SAPS Investigates Double Murder After Spaza Shop Shooting in Willowvale

Willowvale, Eastern Cape — 18 February 2026
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating two counts of murder following a shooting incident at a spaza shop in Mbovu Location, under the Busila Administrative Area in Willowvale on 18 February 2026.

According to an official SAPS media statement, police have opened a case and detectives are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. Two people were reportedly killed during the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Information can be reported at the nearest police station, anonymously via the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or through the MySAPS App. Authorities have assured the public that all information received will be treated confidentially.
