A bus crash has led to the closure of the N1 near Ingwe Lodge, outside Makhado in Limpopo, in the early hours of this morning.
According to confirmed reports, the bus allegedly lost control and veered off the road before plunging into a ditch on a dangerous curve between Ingwe and the Verwoerd Tunnel.
Emergency services are currently on the scene attending to the incident. The N1-29 at Ingwe remains closed in both directions due to the severity of the crash.
Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the number of injuries or fatalities. The situation remains under investigation.
Motorists are advised to use the R523 (Nzhelele Road) as an alternative:
• From Makhado (Witvlag): Turn right onto the R523
• From Musina: Turn left at Willysport
• From Siloam: Turn right onto the R523
Drivers travelling via Witvlag/Maelula are urged to proceed with caution.
